

The City of Colorado Springs hosted a Construction Launch Public Meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 to introduce the construction team for Phase 1 of the Woodmen Road Corridor
Improvement Project.
Approximately 170 people attended to hear a brief presentation and ask questions about the construction process.

The City of Colorado Springs is working to select a contractor to construct the Phase 1 project. The contractor will be selected using a Best Value Process. The process is expected to be complete by the end of August. Equipment may be seen around the project site in upcoming weeks investigating soil conditions.
April 2009The City of Colorado Springs has successfully pursued funding for Phase I of the Woodmen Road Corridor Improvements Project under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). $35 million from the Federal Governments “Stimulus Package” will help pay for Phase 1 of the Corridor. This phase will widen Woodmen Road between I-25 and Bell Drive to six lanes and includes the construction of the Woodmen/Academy interchange. Read more
February 2009The project is currently being advertised for construction. A contractor will be selected based on a Best Value procurement process. Project construction is expected to begin this summer.
Colorado Springs Utilities will be doing gas line construction in the project vicinity over the next few months.
The project team has produced a new animation of the proposed Phase 1 project.
The next Public Open House will be held in the spring of 2009 when a contractor has been selected.
Major utility work continues in the Phase 1 project area:
The beginning of roadway construction is dependent upon the completion of right-of-way (ROW) acquisition. The project team is working to complete the ROW acquisition process by the end of 2008.
